Traditionally, Lentebiers are brewed by monks as a stronger beer to provide extra nutrition during the 40-day Lenten fast. This special Saison-style ale is double hopped in the boil and has a late addition of hops grown locally in the Aalst region of Belgium.

Lentebier pours hazy blond with a lasting white head. Aromas include spicy floral hops, clove, grass, white pepper, pineapple and mango. Taste follows the nose, with some sweetness balancing the acidity, and a lingering hop finish. The high level of carbonation is refreshing and lends the beer a very creamy, velvety mouthfeel. 25.4 oz. (capped) bottle.

Food Pairings:

An ideal pairing for a wide variety of foods; the high carbonation will cut through fat on any rich dish while its lighter flavors will not overwhelm a delicate item.

Brewery Information:

Officially founded in 2004 in the town of Erpe-Mere in the East Flanders region of Belgium,
De Glazen Toren Brewery had its origins in 1988 when Erpe-Mere bureaucrats Jef Van Den Steen, a mathematician and town alderman, and Dirk De Pauw, a lawyer and the newly appointed town clerk, met and discovered a shared passion for beer.

They became friends and then hobby brewers. Their initial experiments in 50 liter batch brews were unremarkable, and the pair realized that enthusiasm was no substitute for craft or expertise, so they enrolled in a three year course of brewing studies and training at the CTL Institute in Ghent.

It proved a wise decision. The quality of their experimental brews improved spectacularly, so much so that they committed to opening their own small brewery.

Today, with the addition of a third partner, Mark De Neef, De Glazen Toren Brewery exports all-natural, high quality ales to at least nine different countries including the United States, Canada, Italy, Australia, and Japan.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0990/2797/6477/files/img_014954_1638a2c2-255a-4eeb-a388-5949389c7f3e.jpg?v=1778150301
