Boerenerf Wild Borders (ABV 7%) Blend of young and old lambics with a farmhouse oat Saison from Brewery Nevel which was aged for 8 months in lambic barrels. Fermented, aged and bottled on the farm at Boerenerf.

“. . . Overall fantastic, lots going on with the ferment and an exceedingly drinkable brew, aged well now but still presenting as bright and fresh, nice green glass character, elite mouthfeel, and something quite special. I’d love to try the Saison in this blend on its own too. These beers continue to be worth the asking price.” As reviewed by StonedTrippin from Colorado (January 24, 2025)

Brewery Information:

The story of
Boerenerf begins at Sollenberg, an ancient hamlet that traces its origins back to the 15th century. At that time, there were only two farms, an inn, a watermill and a brewery. Brewing began in 1864, during the rise of Gueuze in the 19th century. For four generations and over a period of 100 years, lambic beer was brewed at Sollenberg.

The decline of Gueuze (1960-1990) marked a period when many old breweries were closed – including Sollenberg. However, the recent worldwide interest in authentic Gueuze brewing and blending breathed new life into the style. Fortunately, many artifacts were saved, including old glasses, bottles and crates, preserving the heritage of both brewers and farmers.

Branded as
Boerenerf, it is now a blending facility and receives lambic wort from 5 different lambic brewers: 3 Fonteinen, De Troch, Lindemans, Den Herberg and Angerik. In 2021, their first release sourced only ingredients sourced from the Zenne Valley and Pajottenland. Boerenerf’s ambition remains to work as locally and organically as possible.
